The Spectacle Experiment

Sit back and enjoy a momentary lapse in reason. The Spectacle Experiment is reall the modus operandi for singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Hadrian Mordecai, who paints sound collages with the artsy, nocturnal aura most closely associated with Pink Floyd, My Bloody Valentine and Spiritualized. An even split between the nihilistic aesthetic of punk and craftmanship of classic rock, TSE display the ability to wreak sonic pandemonium with tracks such as "One More Day" and "Just Like You" or to slip into reflective bliss on acoustic-based cuts including "Last You'll Ever Hear From Me" and "Out of Focus." Though Mordecai's lyrics often border on the pedestrian, his angst-filled vocals and inventive arrangements drawn from the collective din of synthesizers, violins, guitars, and assorted space effects reasonably compensate for the occassional glitch in the verse. The finale "Never Thought" is a neo-psychedelic gem. If there's another one-man band ready for the big leagues. it's the Spectacle Experiment.
